Bithumb internal groupware hacked, ID numbers and ID copies of 844 customers leaked
South Korean crypto exchange Bithumb detected unauthorized access by an outside party to its internal mobile groupware system, DaouOffice, on Oct 27 2026, and reported it to KISA and the Personal Information Protection Commission. On Oct 29 Bithumb said the intruder was inside from 11:28 to 12:27 that day and took files involving 6,444 customers: 5,600 were DRM-encrypted and unreadable, but 844 customers' personal data was exposed, including names, phone numbers, emails, resident registration numbers, driver's license numbers, bank account numbers and ID card copies. Data of 715 employees and partner staff also leaked. Bithumb says its exchange systems are physically separated from the groupware and no crypto was stolen. Daishin Securities and Mirae Asset Global Investments reported separate breaches the same day.
